In the 40 years since our founding, Sam Dick Industries (SDI) has grown to become the world's leading manufacturer of high quality, innovative, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia vaporizing and mixing equipment.

SDI began operation in 1958 under the name of E. Sam Dick Company as a manufacturer's agent selling gas equipment, boilers, and other industrial equipment. By 1959 the E. Sam Dick Company began manufacturing steam fired vaporizers. In 1960 the manufacturing line expanded to include propane/air mixing systems. The expansion proved to be a success. In the early 1970's the company had their own engineering group, sales force, fabrication shop, and installation crews. 1972 brought change and increased technology. The E. Sam Dick Company became Sam Dick Industries, and the young electronics team developed the first electronic sequencing device in the propane industry .Over the next five years, Sam Dick Industries went through many changes, including a new business philosophy. The company evolved to strictly a manufacturer and allowed the fabrication and installation to be performed by others.

The first dry, cast aluminum "horizontal" electric vaporizer began shipping in 1977. By 1984, the "vertical" design dry electric vaporizer was tested and shipments began in 1985. During 1995, Sam Dick was acquired by its present owner, Eclipse, Inc. That acquisition spurred a renewed commitment to providing its customers with new and innovative solutions to their energy needs. SDI earned its leadership position through its steadfast commitment to product quality and 100% customer satisfaction. SDI leads the way in development and manufacturing and was also the first in the industry to obtain ISO 9001 registration.
